
Spring, Summer & Fall Programs
Join us this summer and fall for an inclusive array of adaptive outdoor sports programs, designed to make adventure accessible to everyone! Experience the thrill of kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding with adaptive equipment tailored to ensure safety and enjoyment for all abilities. Embark on scenic hiking and biking trails equipped with adaptive gear, providing breathtaking views and a chance to connect with nature. Try your hand at disc golf, a delightful sport suitable for all skill levels. Our programs are crafted to empower and inspire, ensuring every participant can fully engage and enjoy the great outdoors.
Kayaking & Stand Up Paddleboard
Experience the thrill of adaptive kayaking and SUP, where adventure meets accessibility for all abilities.
Our kayaking/SUP program will be held on flat water at Collinsville Canoe & Kayak in Collinsville, CT. Adaptive equipment will be used to help fit and load our participants to the kayaks and into the water as necessary Our volunteers will assist with adjustment of the adaptive equipment and help kayakers launch into the water. We will have volunteers supporting the program, both in water and on land. 2025 Lesson Information: Held at Collinsville Canoe & Kayak. Registration will open @ June 7, 2025. We will have lessons on Tuesday afternoons in July through mid August begining July 8th (flexible start time of 4:00, 4:30 or 5:00) and NEW this season will be Saturday evening paddles on July 19, July 26th, and August 16 (raindate will be August 23rd) from 5:30 - 7:30. 1.5 hour paddle time. Cost per session is $45 per participant, $25 companion. You will receive a confirmation and invoice from Summit after you RSVP/Register on our website. Note: Scholarships are available - please complete the Scholarship Application.


Hiking
Embark on inclusive hiking adventures, designed to make nature accessible for everyone.

Hiking will be on easy to intermediate terrain

Adaptive equipment will be available to assist those that need it including adaptive hiking chairs, poles, and more

Our volunteers are trained with knowledge of disabilities and the equipment (if needed) that we have to support our participants.

Our goal is always to foster as much independence as possible while teaching about the environment and safety while hiking

Currently planned hikes include May 24 at Norbrook Farm and Brewery, June 8th at Penwood State Park, and June 22 at Topsmead State Forest HIkes generaly begin at 11:00. Please RSVP in the event section for most up to date information. Fall 2025 dates will be announced soon. ​

Biking - Mountain & Cross Country
Discover adaptive mountain and cross-country biking on universal paths and trails.

Summit Adaptive volunteers will be on hand help fit into adaptive bikes and support our participants

We will have helmets to borrow but if you have your own please bring it.​

Helmets are required for all our coaches and participants for all biking activities

Volunteers must be at least 16 years old to coach participants, but we have other opportunities for those interested in getting involved before they turn 16

Special Note: For all participants planning to try the two wheel bikes only - you must already be comfortable riding a bike. There is no previous bike riding experience required to try the adaptive bikes.


Disc Golf
Experience the inclusive joy of adaptive disc golf, where everyone can join in the fun.

Whether you have experience with Disc Golf or not, this sport will get you outside with our group for a fun time.

Adaptive equipment will be available to assist those that need it including adaptive hiking chairs, poles, etc..

Our trained volunteers will assist with the fitting or adjustment of the adaptive equipment if needed.

Practice sessions (throwing techniques, aiming for target, etc..) are planned. More information to come.

This will be an introductory session for those new to Disc Golf and a chance to practice if your are experienced

We will provide discs, baskets and will have adaptive equipment as needed

Kayaking & Stand Up Paddleboard

Kayaking/Events are planned for Tuesdays in July and early August. Flexible start time between 4:00pm and 5:00pm. 1.5 hour paddle.

New this year: Saturday evening paddles on July 19th, 26th and Aug 16th starting at 5:30pm.
